What is the registration?
It is registration of your passport and contacts (local, foreign, and emergency contacts) during your trip, with the US embassies/ consulates in the countries you are visiting.
This will not substitute for a passport or a travel visa.

Why should you register?
The registration allows the U.S. government official to:
Notify you in case of life threatening situation in the foreign country or evacuation of U.S. citizens.
Contact your family in the U.S. in case of emergency.
Contact you if there is emergency at home or inform the authorized person from your registration to contact you.
Expedite the application of renewing or replacing, if your passport is stolen or lost.

After the registration, we will send you the confirmation of your registration, the embassy/consulate contact information, after hours emergency number, if available, hours of operation and public holidays.
